A climate protection assembly at Windsor High was so popular, a second show was added to this morning’s schedule, according to organizers.

The Alliance for Climate Education (ACE) will puts on a 45-60 minute interactive assembly at Windsor High School specially geared for high school students that explains global warming and its effect on our planet, while offering solutions to combat it. The program is scientifically based, interactive, and energizing, according to Stefan Klakovich of the Windsor Institute for Sustainability and the Environment.

ACE is a non-profit organization from Oakland. Their performances at WHS are sponsored by the Windsor Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (WISE), a 10-12th grade interdisciplinary program at WHS that focuses on environmental issues and sustainable practices. About 900 students are expected to attend.

The first two performances were Tuesday. A third performance was added to this morning’s schedule.

Another perfect example of why my daughter is attending a private school, always has, always will and will attend a private college. Government education has become a hopelessly lost cause.

Scientifically based, ha, what a crock. Where is the counter presentation? Windsor school officals should be ashamed but they are not.

Didn’t take long for the scientifically ignorant to begin their posts.

I like Richards nonsense about private schools. This is an Environmental post not a random thing about which schools are better, so take your opinions and your soon to be empty pocket book some place else. I’m a current student in the WISE program and its awesome.

Richard, what an ignorant comment. I realize you may believe a private education is better for your daughter, but an all out attack on public education? I have found that public school has suited me and others I know just perfectly and although much of what I have seen from public schools is narrow minded and caters to their own (usually) religious beliefs, I do not come to the Press Democrat website to condemn it when it obviously works for some.

Steve, where would this counter argument come from? I have researched both sides extensively and found that the extremely few scientists that do say global warming is not man made have quite a shady background with oil companies. Should the oil companies be given the right to promote their own agenda to High School students? Any other argument I see coming to say global warming is not an issue is from some religious zealots, and if you didn’t already know, government (public) education cannot sponsor any religion.

And thank you ACE for the wonderful presentation and the Press Demo for reporting on it.
