10-13-09WoolseyWaldo Rohnert Elementary School showed off its Visual Thinking Strategies curriculum last week for the visiting Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, D-Petaluma.

Woolsey visited the classrooms of second grade teacher Ellen Giunchigliani and the fifth grade room of Alex Moores.

All teachers at Waldo use VTS, which district officials explain as an instructional strategy that asks teachers to facilitate open-ended discussions of developmentally sequenced works of visual art. Moores uses the technique in his writing lessons among others. Giunchigliani’s students use the technique in science.
