Have time to read with a child?

The Volunteer Center of Sonoma County is trying to round up volunteers – a lot of them – for a program called Schools of Hope.

The group, which is linking with the United Way, needs 250 volunteers for the school year to focus on reading to first graders.

Volunteers need to commit to one hour a week. The program will work in the following districts: Bellevue, Wright, Roseland, Bennett Valley, Rincon Valley and Santa Rosa.
