Chris’s cocoa quest will happen, thanks to the folks at Santa Rosa Middle School.

The Rincon Valley Middle School community lost one of their most stellar student athletes this week when eighth grader Chris Pierpoint suffered a fatal brain hemorrhage. (Read about Chris here: http://bit.ly/ddfYbs)

One of the many, many stories told to me when I visited Rincon Valley and spoke with folks who knew and loved Chris was this one: He was a regular volunteer on campus, helping wipe down tables to earn coveted coupons for a free hot cocoa. It was Chris’s plan to buy the whole school a round of hot chocolate at the end of the year.

Despite his loss, that will happen.

The parent group at Santa Rosa Middle School today donated 900 cups and hot chocolates for the Rincon community to toast Chris at a planned memorial this Tuesday.

Amazing.

  5. CHRISTIAN WOMAN OF FAITH

THE LORD JESUS’ TIMES ARE PERFECT IN WHAT HE DOES AND WHEN. SOMETIMES HE WILL TAKE SOMEONE, IF THEY ARE A CHRISTIAN AND READY, EARLY IN THEIR LIFE. HIS WAYS AND TIMES ARE RIGHT, WHATEVER HE DOES OR ALLOWS. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO BE WITH JESUS IN HEAVEN, AND THAT WILL BE FOREVER.

MAY HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS FIND COMFORT IN MOURNING THEIR HARD LOSS OF A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER. MAY WE ALL BE READY, WHENEVER THE LORD JESUS TAKES US FROM THIS LIFE.

PD webmaster, please remove christian woman’s post. She is using this tragedy to advance her views, and that is offensive.

God bless the grieving family of this amazing young man. My heart breaks for your loss. And for the loss to his school, our community, and the planet. His story has touched many lives. I’m sure he would have offered a cup of cocoa to Christian Woman of Faith without regard to her faith. Here’s a cup of cocoa to you, too, RVMS parent. Perhaps his death can be a lesson to all.

I am terribly sorry for this young man’s family. I played on one of Messias’ older teams and remember him shouting “Pierpoint” at this uber fast young man. I am sure you will be missed at your school and I know you’ll be missed at United. R.I.P

Please, please, Press Democrat, remove the post from the Christian Woman. I agree with RVMS parent…HIGHLY offensive. Everyone has their opinions, but in a time of mourning, that, in my opinion. is uncalled for. Wonderful gesture by the Santa Rosa Middle School. RIP Chris. Deepest condolences to your family.

The post by the christian women is offensive and can only hurt the parents and schoolmates of the boy. She should not push her faith and ideas but allow others to come to terms with this tragedy in their own time and religion.

    P.S.

and in caps jsheesh! already – give it a rest, lady. Most of this world is not christian…

Kate O Kate, The Christian woman is not pushing anything on anybody she wrote WHAT SHE had in HER heart not yours you can live your life any way you chose, I would think that most normal people would hope and pray that this boy is in Heaven right now , what a empty life you must have. And most people are christian or at least have christian roots check your stats dear.

I did not wish to start a sectarian argument here. I thought that the fact that comments were moderated meant that mine would not appear until the webmaster reviewed them. I do not question the right of anyone to hold their own religious beliefs, but I do think that there are times and places when it’s not appropriate to share them. I think that anyone who prays for Chris and his family and shares that with them is doing a wonderful thing. As a RVMS parent whose child knew Chris well, my heart aches every day for this wonderful boy and for a life of unlimited promise that can never be realized. Words cannot describe how sorry I am for his friends and family and their indescribable loss. Like anyone else lucky enough to be a parent, I wonder how I could ever bear such horrific pain and I my deepest hope is that I never need to find out. I mourn for the innocence of the classmates forced to confront the capriciousness of life at such a young age. To be clear, I respect those who feel that their religious beliefs somehow make sense of this tragedy, and I am thankful for any peace this may give them. However – to state in a public forum that the death of a child is fine, so long as that child’s behavior conforms to a particular set of religious practices, minimizes the profound nature of the death of this child and the loss suffered by so many who loved him, and it is deeply offensive to those of us who do not worship exactly as you would wish us to.

please!!!!!!!everyone!!!!!!!!stop!!!!!!!!! This is a time for greaving for family and friends. These comments should be about Chris and only Chris! Everyone should be more respectful to the family and friends. Try sharing things about Chris and what a wonderful young kid he “is”. I didn’t know Chris, but I know he was an amazing person. My heart goes out to all of your family and friends.

Does anyone have any respect at all????Why the criticism on this woman?no one should be. I’m sure the mother and father of Chris appreciate the heart felt comments and take offense of the criticism. This is a free country and anyone can say what there’s in their heart. Any one can speak out no matter what religion they are.

  25. RVMS Parent As Well

My son knew Chris well and had class with him also. It was very hard and has been ever since Chris left. I came to the school the day of the service to help pass out Cocoa and it was a memorable yet emotional day. My heart and prayers are with Chris’s family. As one person said in a comment earlier I agree – I can’t even imagine the loss of one of my kids. It’s something that we all hope we never have to endure. (as for the Christian Woman comment, didn’t like it either but can’t do much about it since we live in a freedom of speech country and thank goodness!).

Chris is an amazing young man and has left a hand print on my heart. I give all my prayers to his family. I was a friend of him, but did not know him well. He went to my elementary school and I used to always play soccer with him at break. I wish I had gotten to know him better. I GIVE LOTS OF LOVE TO HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!!!!!

Chris is and will be remembered by the community and those he touched, in life and death. I went to his elementary school and was in his class. He was a funny, upbeat, and extremely generous young man and I send my deepest sympathies to the family and close friends. Rest in peace Chris. You deserve it.
