Winsor High School has qualified four students to compete in the high school debate competition April 15-17 in San Diego.

Jason Fauss and Jonathan Jeffrey posted the league’s best record. The WHS team won first place sweepstakes in parliamentary and public forum debate.

The competition, held at James Logan High School in Union City, featured 52 teams.

The duo will join senior team captains Jakob Christensen and Amy Jeffrey in San Diego.

This is the second consecutive year that coach Bryan St. Amant’s Jaguar squad has earned an invitation to state finals and the first time Windsor has claimed a Golden Gate Speech Association title in two debate events.

“Our state finalists are some of the finest debaters I’ve ever seen and I know they’ll represent us well in the championship,” St. Amant said in a statement.

This weekend, the Jaguars will compete at College Prep High in Oakland for qualify for nationals.

ExtraCredit readers may remember the name of the Jeffrey siblings. I profiled the trio for a Teen Profile in the Press Democrat. Read that story here: http://bit.ly/ebLZ7P

Santa Rosa High also reached out to ExtraCredit, so I’m hoping to get their information up soon as well.
