Montgomery High’s Gabe Ferrick will be honored tonight as a Distinguished Finalist in the 2011 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.

Ferrick was chosen from among more than 5,000 middle and high school students  nominated in November for their volunteer community service.

Ferrick, a sophomore at Montgomery, is credited with raising $43,000 to help end genocide in Darfur through various events.

At the Santa Rosa City School Board meeting tonight Ferrick will be presented with an engraved bronze medallion for the Prudential award. The meeting is at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers of Santa Rosa City Hall.
