Maria Carrillo High School sophomore Adrian Devitt-Lee won the California TrigStar math competition and will head to the national contest in June.

Devitt-Lee dominated the state competition, earning a 100 percent score in a speedy 11 minutes. For perspective, contest organizers reminded readers that Ian VonSeggern, the Santa Rosa High School math wiz who took second in the national competition in 2008, took 13 minutes longer when he competed at the state level.

Devitt-Lee was honored by the Santa Rosa City School Board on Wednesday night.
