Nine Sonoma County high school seniors are scheduled to be honored today in Sacramento for winning Comcast’s Leaders and Achievers Scholarship.

The local winners are:

Austin Schmidt of Cloverdale High School

Elizabeth Fox of El Molino High School

 Suzanne McNamara of Casa Grande Senior High School

 Laura Smith of Petaluma High School

 Nicole Thompson of St. Vincent High School

 Janice Castro of Roseland University Prep

 Bethany Codding of Ursuline High School

Rebecca Hildebrant of Rincon Valley Christian School

Carlos Velasquez of Archbishop Hanna High School

Today’s ceremony on the Capitol steps will honor 190 California seniors from 104 cities and 30 counties who have won more than $210,000 in scholarships.

The award recognizes high school seniors for their leadership skills, positive attitude, academic achievement and community services, according to Comcast officials. Since the program began in 2001, more than $15.4 million in scholarships has been distributed.
