Sonoma State University is expanding to two days a week its low-cost health exam program this fall/winter.

Exams will be given Wednesdays and Fridays Oct. 5 through early December.

The exams will be given by nurses in the SSU Family Nurse Practitioner program.

The annual exam program covers low cost physical exams and health appraisals for well adults and children. The exams are supervised by nursing faculty and performed by Family Nurse Practitioner students who are registered nurses enrolled in the master’s nursing program.

Exams include a complete medical and health history, identification of risk factors, complete physical exam, blood pressure checks, vision testing, audiology testing, urinalysis, cholesterol and Pap smears.

The exams can be used for sports physicals, annual exams, pre-employment physicals and Class II DMV licensing physicals.

The cost of the physical exam is $30; Pap test $45, cholesterol check $25, hearing tests are free and a DMV exam is $60.

Appointments can be made by calling SSU’s Nursing Department 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 664-2466.
