Rancho Cotate High School pulled in 13,000 pounds of food in support of Neighbors Organized Against Hunger, according to Jessica Holman, the school’s ASB advisor.

“I don’t know of any other school that cares about their community as much as Rancho does,” she said.

Students pulled in thousands of pounds of food over a three week span just prior to the holiday break. The top teacher leaders were Ken Torre with 2,188 pounds, Brian Connich with 3,127 and the top hauler, Dawn Mawhinney with 3,198 pounds.

In addition to their annual food drive, Rancho Cougars hold four blood drives a year and give about 500 pints of blood a year.

Holman has a ton of great photos that I will post as soon as I can. Keep checking back.

Photos were taken by Rancho students Alissa Hickling, Alex Welch and Olivia Strouse.
