Chess for Kids, a local organization dedicated to teaching and promoting chess for area school kids, is hosting an all girls chess tournament on Feb. 11.

The third annual event is open to girls ages 5-17 of all levels of chess playing ability.

Players are grouped in quads of similar grade level and will play a total of three games. Every player is slated to win a medal and the winner of the quad competition will win a trophy, according to organizers.

The cost is $20 and all proceeds go to Circle of Sisters, an organization dedicated to reducing violence by working with young girls on self esteem and healthy decisions.

Players must arrive by 9:30 a.m. at Brescia Lounge at the former Ursuline High School, 90 Ursuline Road.
