Piner High School’s Health Occupation Students of America club hosted a school wide health fair Jan. 27 that featured an array of visiting health professionals and allowed students to access information about their own health as well as heath care professions, according to Judy Barcelon, an instructor in Piner’s Health and Science Investigation Pathway.

Nine organizations had tables at the event, including California Youth Outreach, Redwood Community Health Coalition, AmeriCorps, Planned Parenthood and the Santa Rosa Junior College sports medicine program.

Students who administered a health risk survey to their fellow students expect they will be able to target healthy messages on the Piner campus, including pushing for broader use of seat belts and information on access to support for depression.
