Monica Acosta

Piner High School senior Monica Acosta earned a first place finish at the Student Speakers Contest hosted by the Windsor Lions Club, according to veteran Piner science teacher Judy Barcelon.

Acosta now moves on to the next level of competition which will be held Friday at the Windsor Community Center. The event starts at 6 p.m.

Acosta, an active member of the Piner High Cal-HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), is preparing to compete in a prepared speaking event for the HOSA state leadership conference in March, according to Barcelon said. She is currently raising funds to attend the conference.
