The president of the California State Board of Education will speak at Sonoma State University March 22.

Michael Kirst, a professor emeritus of education at Stanford University, will speak on the current state of education in California during a 90-minute lecture in the Cooperage.

Kirst is in his second stint on the state board. He last served from 1977 to 1981.

Admission to the talk is free. The event begins at 7 p.m.
