Elsie Allen’s Hector Iturbe is Santa Rosa City Schools high school student of the month for March.

Iturbe is ranked number one in his class with an impressive 4.44 grade point average while taking classes through Elsie’s University Center program.

As a sophomore, Iturbe was accepted into Stanford’s Medical Youth Science Program and as a junior went again to Stanford where he was invited to attend the Summer Math and Science Honors Academy.

This year, Iturbe launched a program in which 20 Cook Middle School students meet with Iturbe once a week to execute science experiments and learn science concepts. His goal? To get students interested in math and science.

In addition to his stellar work in the classroom, Iturbe also excels on the sports field. He is a member of the Lobos’ varsity basketball and soccer teams and has been a member of the track team. Iturbe was named captain of the soccer squad.
