Karla Mendoza of Brook Hill Elementary School is Santa Rosa City Schools Elementary Schools’ student of the month for April.

Mendoza has been a Brook Hill Bobcat since the first grade and is lauded by staff and teachers there as a critical thinker, natural leader and hard worker.

Mendoza has served as school treasurer, a participant in the Girls on the Run club and is on the principal’s honor roll. She plays on a competitive soccer team and writes for the school paper.

Mendoza is described by teachers and staff as a trustworthy leader.

Academically, she gives her best, according to staff, and excels in higher level math concepts and shares her knowledge and is helpful to classmates.

Mendoza plans to eventually attend Montgomery High School and gain entry to the University of California at Berkeley before becoming a plastic surgeon.
