Cloverdale Unified School District has named Steve Jorgensen its new superintendent. Claudia Fransden is slated to retire June 30.

Jorgensen is currently assistant superintendent of the West Sonoma County High School District.

Cloverdale has nearly 1,500 students. Jorgensen, a 29-year educator who began as a high school teacher, begins July 1.

“I think we found the perfect person for the job,” Cloverdale School Board President Karen Scalabrini said in a statement. “Steve’s background in both student curriculum and school finance will help provide the direction Cloverdale Unified needs to succeed in the future.”
