Santa Rosa Superintendent Socorro Shiels has released a welcome back letter to parents, students and community members.
The letter marks the opening of Shiels’s tenure as superintendent of the county’s largest school district. Her first day at the helm was July 1 after Sharon Liddell resigned.
“Being new to the SRCS community, I look forward to meeting you at school events and hearing from you the great things happening locally, as well as issues in which you are concerned,” the letter reads. “I will be scheduling events both out in the community and with your principal at school to meet groups of parents and community partners to hear directly from you how our schools can best meet the needs of your students.”

School starts for the district Aug. 20.

Sacramento or SR?
Does Ms. Shiels still live in Sacramento? If she doesn’t understand why this is important then she is not competent to run the district.
