Brian Belding, a third grade teacher at Wright Charter School, made the good suggestion of getting word out about www.Donorschoose.org.

The site, for those not familiar, is an online donation forum where teachers can post pitches for donations for their classrooms. For donors, it’s easily searchable so you can search by interest, by teacher or by city or school. You can also remain private or tout your gift or give the teacher a public pat on the back.

Local teachers have already caught on. A Flowery Elementary School teacher in Sonoma is asking for embroidery tools for her students. She has $336.81 to go before her project deadline. At Bellevue Elementary School, Ms. Palmer needs $778.47 to get much needed outdoor play equipment for that campus. At Maria Carrillo High School, a teacher is looking for donations of a long list of young adult books – donors can purchase one book or the whole list under the set up of www.donorschoose.org. The deadline for this project is just three days away.

Give the site a look: www.donorschoose.org
