Cobb Mountain School is celebrating a quarter century of its school garden program with a community celebration and harvest festival on Sept. 16.

The Harvest Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus. There will be food (homegrown and otherwise), live music, arts and crafts and a fundraising raffle, according to organizers.

The school garden club, the driving force behind the harvest festival, has worked in recent years to add student-grown produce to the school lunches and use foods from area farms. The school has also partnered with area restaurants and Yuba College to find ways to increase students’ access to new foods.

The garden club has been joined in the effort by Health Leadership Network of Lake County, the local Master Gardeners group, Junior Master Gardeners, 4-H, Boy Scouts of America, as well as students and parents.

Cobb Mountain Elementary School is located at 15895 Hwy. 175 in Middletown.
