REMINDER, THIS EVENT IS TOMORROW NIGHT: Sonoma Country Day School will on Tuesday, Oct. 16 host Michael Thompson, PhD., for a lead a talk entitled “Best Friends/Worst Friends: Friendship, Development, Popularity and Social Cruelty in Childhood: Help for Parents Who Want to Help Their Children.”
The event starts at 7 p.m. is free and open to the public but those interested are asked to RSVP via www.scdsevents.org. It is geared toward parents of K-8 students.
Thompson is expected to walk parents through “the complex world of childhood, make suggestions about managing social problems, and make the case that while children may yearn for popularity, it is friendship that helps them survive and thrive,” according to organizers at Sonoma Country Day School who are organizing the event.
Dr. Thompson is author of “Happy: How Time Away from Parents Can Help a Child Grow” and “Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys.”
The event will be held in the Jackson Theater on the campus at 4400 Day School Place.
