Beginning Thursday, Montgomery High School will host three orientation seminars for its International Baccalaureate program.

The sessions are designed for parents and students in grades 8-10 and will include an overview of the IB Diploma Program (grades 11-12), an overview of the pre-IB program (grades 9-10), current Montgomery students speaking about the program, an opportunity to meet IB teachers and a question and answer session.

Orientations will be held in the Montgomery High library from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 5.

Montgomery has been an authorized IB school since 1995. More than 350 students participated in the 2011-12 program and last year 17 seniors earned the IB diploma, according to school officials.

For additional information, including applications and shadow request forms, contact Dorothy Battenfeld, IB Coordinator, at 528-5522 ext. 6506 or dbattenfeld@srcs.k12.ca.us

  1. Worship the Ground I Walk On

Nice to know this, as Montgomery is a school I graduated from. However, the funny thing about Montgomery is that there are some middle class to wealthy students who go to school there, and an equal amount of kids from poor neighborhoods like South Park, Juliard Park, and West 9th, and other low-income places that are in Bennett Valley. Not to be totally off topic, but that is what makes Montgomery so unique and diverse. The IB is also a cool program.
