REMINDER, DEADLINE TO APPLY IS THURSDAY: Santa Rosa Junior College is launching a new teaching fellows program for students interested in becoming teachers, librarians, counselors, psychologists or administrators.
The program will match 12 students with 12 teachers who will serve as mentors. The program offers qualified students $1,800 as a merit-based award for the semester.
The funding comes from a $5 million gift given to the college from an anonymous donor this year.
The deadline to apply is Nov. 8 at 5 p.m.
Teaching fellows will meet regularly with their SRJC mentors and will have monthly meetings with others participating in the program. The program is open to student interested in working in education from pre-kindergarten through college. Qualified applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average, have complete 24 units of college this semester and plan to enroll in a minimum of 12 units in the spring, according to the school.
