Santa Rosa City Schools will host a final community information meeting to discuss the proposed Spanish-language, dual-immersion charter school that officials are pressing to open in the fall.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. December 6th at the Cook Middle School Library, 2480 Sebastopol Rd.
The district hopes to open the program to 90 kindergarten and first graders next August. Officials expect to have signatures from parents indicating intent to enroll children this month. The board is set to vote on charter language in January or February.

Final meeting on Spanish immersion program is Thursday.
This is the silliest program idea around. Why teach swimming in Spanish?

I found it interesting that some were complaining there wasn’t much of an Hispanic showing at the meetings. Maybe that is because the flyers and calls that went out were in English only. At the school I work at I had to request a Spanish version of the flyer on the meetings so that the Spanish speaking families could have information too. The response was, “Oh! That didn’t even occur to me!” The automated call I got at home was in English only as well.
