Katherine “Katie” Catching, a senior at Santa Rosa High School, is Santa Rosa City Schools high school student of the month for November.

Catching has been fully involved in all aspects of the Panther community in her four years in high school. She is a standout student who enrolls in honors and AP classes.

She is the youngest person ever to hold the title of chairperson of the school’s site council. She’s active in student government and has played a role in putting on prom, toga dances, multi-cultural week and the Mr. Panther competition.

She is past president of the French club and is a 12-year Girl Scout and currently working on her Gold Award in scouting. She volunteers with Harvest for the Hungry, Canine Companions for Independence and other groups.

“Her motivation, organization, responsibility and communication skills, including a true work ethic, have made her a very successful person,” Principal Brad Coscarelli wrote. “We are proud of Katie’s achievements here at Santa Rosa High and I know she will be a tremendous asset to our community in the future.”
