Sonoma State University will host a panel discussion on how to curb gun violence, particularly how it affects college campuses, on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Panelists include of SSU sociology professor Ben Frymer, The HUB director Mark Fabioner, interim Police Chief Sally Miller, Counseling and Psychological Services director Lisa Wyatt and Associated Students Executive Vice President Anthony Gallino.

The panel will look at some of the root causes of the problem and discuss ways of addressing the issue from a sociological, psychological, public safety and race and class perspectives, according to organizers. Participants will also have an opportunity to tell their stories of how gun violence has impacted their lives.

The event, sponsored by the Association Students Productions, will not be a debate on second amendment rights, according to organizers.
The event is scheduled to run from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the student union multipurpose room.
