Santa Rosa Middle School again hosted a week-long celebration of diversity and various cultures in what has become an annual event at the E Street campus.
Throughout the week students attend presentations and listen to speakers talking about a variety of cultures and sharing experiences that might be far from what the students are normally exposed to.
The event’s finale was Friday night – a massive event with Hawaiian dancers, African dancers, a Mariachi band, drumming and other performers. About 800 people attended, according to Principal Kathy Coker.
The doors of the gym were opened and the community was invited to the school to see the performances and enjoy foods from around the world: tacos, sushi, pork and rice, tamales, Italian meatballs and other dishes.
