An eighth grader at Guerneville School has been named the state winner in a contest to choose the best school bus safety poster.

Marissa Alger’s work beat out competitors from Sonoma, Marin, Lake and Mendocino counties before advancing to the state competition where she won top honors. Her prize was $200 in combined cash awards. Her teacher, Mary Bracken, receives $150 for supplies in her classroom or a party.

Alger is also scheduled to travel to San Diego for the California Association of School Transportation Officials state conference on March 24. Alger’s work will go up against pieces from the rest of the country in the National Association of Pupil Transportation.

I’m trying to drum up a copy of Alger’s poster. If anyone can help with that, shoot me an email. Thanks.
