“Read Across America” got off to a green-eggs-and-hammy start today at Madrone Elementary School in Santa Rosa.

Gayle Turner’s pre-kindergarten class ate funky looking treats while teachers and guest readers came to the classroom to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday in the annual nationwide event. Turner supplied her entire class with Seussian hats and students were encouraged to bring sleeping bags and pillows for the read aloud day.

Parents created “green eggs and ham” and the class also hosted a book exchange.

If your class celebrated “Read Across America” today, feel free to send in photos and a brief description of the event to Kerry.benefield@pressdemocrat.com Please make photos no larger than 1mb per shot and send as jpg attachments. Thanks.
