Dentist Andrew McCormick is again sponsoring a contest that asks students to write a one-page essay on a “good deed” they have performed. The winner gets a free laptop, according to McCormick’s office.

Essays are due May 6. Participants must be 18 years or younger and must write a one-page essay about a good deed they performed and what came of it. Essays can be emailed to or dropped off at 855 Fountaingrove Parkway in Santa Rosa.

The current contest marks the fifth time McCormick has sponsored the contest. A recent winner was Daniel Rosenthal, the Maria Carrillo High School student who created “Magic is Medicine” a program that bring magic performances into hospitals, rehabilitation centers and other places where people could use some cheer and wonder.
