Tiffany Wei is Santa Rosa City Schools high school student of the month for April.

Wei, a senior at Maria Carrillo High School, is described by her counselor Marie Speaks as a standout student and musician throughout her entire high school career.

“Her maturity and excitement for music really stands apart from other students and (she) is always challenging herself and excels in both the academics and arts,” Speaks wrote to district officials on Wei’s behalf.

Wei plays both the piano and the clarinet and participates in the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Ensemble. She has been a member of All-State Honor Band, first chair of the Maria Carrillo school band, as well as the Sonoma County Honor Band in 2010 and 2012, according to school officials. She is a member of the band club, serving as librarian and club president.

Wei volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club, teaching piano to younger students.

She is an award-winning California State Science Fair participant and also placed first in the Odyssey of the Mind. She speaks Mandarin, English and French and dreams of a career as a financial analyst.

Wei is described as curious, passionate and always looking for ways to make a difference.
