Need another reason beyond a pound of barbecued meat to attend the annual Wine Country Big Q this weekend? How about that the main beneficiary is the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County.

The event, a Kansas City Barbecue, nationally-sanctioned competition, is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Sonoma Academy campus, 2500 Kawana Springs Rd. Access is from Kawana Springs Road.

The museum is slated to open next year on West Steele Lane next to the Charles M. Schulz Museum but Museum-on-the-Go has been around since 2005 and will be at the barbecue event Saturday. Piner High grad Pete Stringfellow will perform (see his site here http://petestringfellow.com).

Adult admission is $45 and includes dinner, dessert, wine and beer. Kids’ tickets are $20.
