El Molino High School is celebrating its golden jubilee this year with a series of community events.

The year-long celebration kicks off Oct. 11 with a barbecue at the Homecoming game. Floats representing decades of El Molino’s existence will circle the field at halftime of the Lions game with Petaluma. The Homecoming dance them is “Dancing Through the Decades.”

The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity game is at 7:30 p.m. on the El Molino campus, 7050 Covey Road.

Later in the year, the school will host a gala at the Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm facilities May 10. The community and school alumni are invited. Students are hosting their own school celebration May 9.

El Molino began in 1963, as 250 freshmen and sophomores attended class in trailers on the Analy High School campus. The Covey Road campus was opened to students in May 1964. The first graduating class was in 1966.
