Santa Rosa Middle School students and staff wanted to double their efforts of last year when they raised $5,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s cancer research program.

The Cougars did that and more.

Principal Kathy Coker said the total amount raised was $12,600.

With such a huge haul, the Cougars were awarded a VIP tent at the annual “Light the Night” walk on Oct. 12. Joined by Santa Rosa City Schools Superintendent Socorro Shiels, Cougars were able to participate in the event and celebrate their donation.
