Regular Press Democrat readers will remember a story that ran last June about a Make camp held at Comstock Middle School and taught by Piner science and Make teacher Dante DePaola, among others.

Well, DePaola has sent an update on what Piner’s Make students are up to this semester and it’s phenomenal.

The students researched, designed and constructed their own large-scale trebuchets.

They were built solely by the students themselves, DePaola said.

They used 2x4s, plywood and screws, but the lesson touched on projectile motion, forces, inertia, and kinetic and potential energy.

It was also fun. Check out the video and see IMG_0300
