Javier Torres is Santa Rosa City Schools elementary school student of the month for December. The Lincoln Elementary School sixth grader is a leader among his peers and excellent student, according to the Lincoln staff.

Torres has attended Lincoln since the first grade.

The Lincoln staff said Torres is particularly artistic, good at measuring and made a stellar Mission model for his fourth grade project.

His teachers call him a motivated reader who takes responsibility for his learning and asks questions when he doesn’t understand. He’s an outstanding math student who is very quick to grasp new concepts, but does not shy away from challenges – he is never satisfied with merely getting the answer, his teacher said.

When working with a group, Torres will ask “What do you think?” so that his peers feel involved without feeling “bossed around,” according to his teachers.
