Montgomery High School Student Body President Cole Larson is Santa Rosa City Schools student of the month for January.

Larson has earned a 4.8 grade point average during his four years at Montgomery and hopes to attend either Yale, Georgetown, George Washington, UCLA or Cal and study international politics.

Larson is a captain on the Vikings football squad and a full International Diploma candidate through Montgomery’s International Baccalaureate program. His IB diploma extended essay is entitled “The issue is not gun control; it’s how we approach mental illness in our society.”

The senior was credited with organizing a meeting of all student body presidents from schools within the North Bay League to discuss sportsmanship during competitive games.

He is described as a leader who is always pushing himself to do more.
