Parents  from Hidden Valley Satellite have launched an effort to raise money to purchase benches in honor longtime Hawks teacher Sandy Kronick. Kronick died after suffering a heart attack in 2012 just one week after his retirement.

The main bench is slated to overlook the playground on the Parker Hill Drive campus. The Hidden Valley Satellite Parents Association is hoping to buy two additional, smaller benches that will sit near Kronick’s memorial bench. The entire project is slated to cost $3,600, according to organizer Nancy Lanz.

“He was such a big impact on our little school,” she said.

As of Friday morning, $950 had been raised toward the goal.

Kronick spent 33 years as a teacher in Santa Rosa City Schools, both at Doyle Park Elementary and later at Hidden Valley Satellite.
