Sonoma County Regional Parks is offering a youth junior lifeguard camp in March, when many children are out of school for spring break.

Children nine years and older can sign up to learn the basics of surfing and ocean lifeguarding from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 17-20 at Doran Beach.

Participants will use rescue equipment and practice maneuvers in the ocean, county officials said.  Regular regional parks lifeguards will be on duty throughout the camp.

Participants must wear proper fitting wetsuits. Rentals are available for $55 for the week.

On the first day of camp, participants and their parents are to meet in the Bodega Bay Surf Shack where wetsuits can be rented, according to county officials.

The cost is $250. Registration is online  at http://bit.ly/1goydzA
