Six students will represent Sonoma County at the state science fair next month after winning top marks at the Synopsys-Sonoma County Science Fair last Saturday.

The top scientist are:

•    Alexandra Garber, Grade 8, The Presentation School
•    Marion Hall-Zazueta, Grade 8, Orchard View School
•    Nicole Hanson, Grade 8, St. Francis Solano School
•    Satya Karri, Grade 10, Technology High School
•    Eliza Neeley, Grade 8, Altimira Middle School
•    Alia Salomon, Grade 11, Technology High School

The 156 students from 24 schools who participated in the event at Sonoma State University was the largest turnout ever, according to organizers. The event was sponsored by the Sonoma County Office of Education and the Synopsys Outreach Foundation.

Students, working both as individuals and in teams, explained their projects, presented their findings and were interviewed by panels of judges. Fifty-three scientists, university professors, science enthusiasts and others made up the judges pool.

The California State Science Fair will be held in Los Angeles April 28-29.
