Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools Paul Tichinin is not running for re-election.
Tichinin has been in the top county schools post for two decades.
Tichinin will retire in January after 40 years in education.
“It has been an honor to serve the diverse communities of Mendocino County, “ he said in a statement. “There is much work still to done.”
Tichinin has endorsed Paul Joens-Poulton, the associate superintendent, in the race.
