Thank you, Kerry! This is going to be a fun day, filled with splashing, carrying on, and success. It’s the same day as the Human Race, but serves a different audience; Besides, the boats are due to hit the water at 2pm so there’s time to do both if folks want a very full day!

My children were out of district transfers to El Molino from Santa Rosa City Schools. For 7 years, I did a 1 hour turn around twice a day and I would do it againl; both my daughters got an excellent education from El Molino High School.

Well done Petaluma! Chad Carvey is a beloved fellow down here in Larkspur / Corte Madera. When my son was entering kindergarten ( he ended up at a different school ) my friends and neighbors raved about Chad. He was vice- principal at the excellent , but quite large Neil Cummins School. He called me back to discuss all of my questions and concerns and very thoughtfully , honestly , and kindly helped me make the decision that was best for our . Well done!

Wow — what a background. Google search indicates he has been a principal in Brisbane and Ross Valley, vice principal in Larkspur, middle school principal in Moss Beach, and a superintendent in Big Sur. Plus he is a certified auctioneer. Look forward to a much more comprehensive article on this person. Way to go Petaluma!

I do hope the campus at ElMo is better kept that when I was a student there (class of 89)… I recall tha the campus was often knee deep in trash and was really quite embarassing!

Amber Twitchell sure is the right person for the job. But I remember a time when she and the school board didn’t always see eye to eye.

Amber had just moved from the big city to a small town that didn’t allow public dancing. She went before the school board (which was headed up by the town’s reverend) presenting a petition to abolish the ban on dancing and have a senior prom. She didn’t convince the school board to allow the prom, but she did manage to win over the good reverend and have her dance just outside the city limits. That dance revitalized the spirit of the town and brought people from all walks of life together.

Great job, Amber! We’ll expect similar results from you with this new position.
