Writers conference approaching

The Redwood branch of the California Writers Club will host a writing conference in Santa Rosa on Oct. 24. The one-day conference will feature vendors, agents, editors and writers who organizers say will offer insights on the craft of writing as well as encouragement. Fort Ross School scores with Leipheimer

Chamber looking for backers for its language program

Reaction to combination classes?

Enrollment numbers are in for the first week of Santa Rosa City Schools. Part of what emerges from the elementary school numbers are the number of combo classes. Proctor Terrace and Biella have the most combination classes at four. Biella has combos in K-1, 2-3, 4-5 and 5-6. Proctor’s combos are in 1-2, 2-3, 4-5 and 5-6. Katrina anniversary fundraiser on Saturday

Nonesuch School in Sebastopol will host a Cajun-influenced fundraiser Saturday night to generate money to send students to New Orleans to help ongoing recovery efforts this spring.
