Full contact alumni football game in the works between Analy and El Molino

A full-contact alumni football game between grads of El Molino and Analy high schools is in the works for June 20. Sign ups are open to ex-players ages 18 to 65, according to Alex Cosentino, El Molino class of 2011. Players can register through http://www.alumnifootballusa.com/index.php/gamelist The game will be played at 7 p.m. June 20 on El Molino’s field, 7050 Covey Road, Forestville. Analy’s big fundraiser is Saturday

Analy High School Foundation is hosting an “Excellence in Education” fundraiser is this Saturday. The event will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. April 5 at Kosta Browne Winery at the Barlow in downtown Sebastopol. There will be live and silent auctions and entertainment featuring Analy students. The education foundation in 2012-13 provided funding for technology in the library, counseling programs, a farming tractor, the journalism club, speech and debate scholarships and others. Montgomery’s Sackett takes top prize at Poetry Out Loud

[imagebrowser id=40] Montgomery High School’s Kaitlyn Sackett took home the top prize in the county’s Poetry Out Loud contest Sunday, earning a spot in the state contest next month. Sackett will represent Sonoma County at the state competition in Sacramento March 23 and 24. El Molino High School is celebrating its golden jubilee this year with a series of community events. The year-long celebration kicks off Friday night with a barbecue at the Homecoming game. Floats representing decades of El Molino’s existence will circle the field at halftime of the Lions game with Petaluma. Sebastopol home to ‘Renaissance’ fundraiser this weekend

The Sebastopol Education Foundation is hosting their annual Renaissance Harvest Faire fundraiser this weekend. “Much Ado About Sebastopol” will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Ives Park on Willow Street. Last year’s fete pulled in about 4,000 people and organizers say more are expected this year. Analy’s music leader Vance Regan retiring

Analy High School’s lauded music teacher Vance Regan is retiring. Regan submitted his resignation to the West Sonoma County Board of Trustees Wednesday. The job vacancy is currently posted at http://wscuhsd.k12.ca.us/Vacancy/Certificated/06-27-2013_Music_Teacher.pdf  Since 1992, Regan has led the Analy’s instrumental music program, growing the program from 65 students two decades ago to 210 in 2012-13. Analy, SRHS win video production ‘Emmys’

A video production team Analy High School was given the equivalent of an Emmy award when it was awarded the “Pillar of Excellence” from the Northern California chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. A team from Santa Rosa High’s ArtQuest program earned an “Award of Excellence” in the same competition which included entrants from Northern California, Nevada and Hawaii. Analy High hosting ‘Terrapalooza’ Saturday

Analy High School will host its first annual Sustainability Showcase tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “Terrapalooza” will showcase various interactive student projects and activities, according to organizers. There will be a plant/heirloom seed sale, petting zoo, tiny house display, solar baked treats, how to build a chicken coop seminar, human powered vehicle rides, solar cell demonstrations and other activities.
