ArtQuest boosters hosting Mardi Gras ball

Friends of ArtQuest is hosting a Mardi Gras Ball fundraiser next month to support the program at Santa Rosa High School. Tickets include Cajun-styled dinner, wine, a silent and live auction, and music by Gatorbeat. The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Friedman Event Center in Santa Rosa. Tickets are $65 a piece and can be purchased via www.artquestmardigrasball.com Friends of ArtQuest is a nonprofit parent and community organization.  

ArtQuest information night on Thursday

Santa Rosa High School will host an ArtQuest information night from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The meeting will be held in the multipurpose room in the main building of the campus at 1235 Mendocino Ave. Leaders will go over the application process and a faculty/counselor panel will be on hand to answer questions. The program’s eight specialty programs include dance, digital arts, instrumental music, photography, theater arts, video arts, visual fine arts and vocal music. Santa Rosa’s Chuba wins ‘Beach Blanket Babylon’ scholarship

Santa Rosa High’s recently graduated Nick Chuba won a $10,000 scholarship from the “Beach Blanket Babylon Scholarship for the Arts,” according to school officials. Chuba, an ArtQuest student, won in the acting category. He and fellow Panther Kelsey Tarantino were two of the nine seniors from the Bay Area who were finalists in the competition. The pair performed June 4 at Club Fugazi in San Francisco.

ArtQuest, Arts Charter converge to make painting projects

                                    More than 90 Santa Rosa High School ArtQuest visual fine arts students spent Monday on the campus at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts for a collaborative mural-making and painting session. Three shows left for ‘The Producers’ at SRHS

Backers of Santa Rosa High’s musical theater program sent these shots over to ExtraCredit with a reminder that only three performances remain for the school’s staging of “The Producers.” Remaining shows are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Shows on Friday and Saturday are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday’s show is a 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $10 general admission and $7 for seniors and students. All performances are held in the school’s auditorium on the campus at 1235 Mendocino Ave.

ArtQuest open house is Thursday

Santa Rosa High School will host an open house for its ArtQuest program from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The ArtQuest application process will be discussed and a panel of ArtQuest teachers will be on hand to answer student and parent questions. ArtQuest applications are available in the school’s front office or by downloading one at www.artquestonline.org. Priority deadline is Feb. 3. Piner nabs Golden Bell award, hosting GIS Day Wed

Piner High School has nabbed the prestigious Golden Bell Award for its Geospatial Technology Program. Piner will be honored by the California School Boards Association at their annual meeting Dec. 3 in San Diego.
