Board honors Elsie’s theater troupe

The Elsie Allen theater players returned home from their stay in London and performance run at Scotland’s Edinburgh Fringe Fest just in time for the start of school last week. On Wednesday, the troupe was honored by the Santa Rosa School Board. “You have made your community very proud,” said board member Donna Jeye. Montgomery, Elsie thespians take off today

Sonoma County students are heading to Scotland. Montgomery High School thespians met their $80,000 fundraising goal and will be performing at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world’s largest art festival next week. A troupe from Elsie Allen High also met their goals and are setting off today as well. Time to rally for the Montgomery Fringe effort

It’s a big weekend for the Montgomery High School drama crew. The group needs $7,000 more to reach its fundraising goal to send 10 people to Scotland in August for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The final push for funds comes tonight, Saturday and Sunday as students will stage performances and collect funds to hopefully put them over to the top on their fundraising goals. Montgomery fundraising for Fringe

Musicians from Montgomery High School will provide the background music for “A Taste of Montgomery Village,” a fundraiser for the high school drama department. Hot Cuban night pulls in cool $6K for Elsie Allen

Theater fans and Elsie Allen backers pulled in about $6,000 at a fundraising event last Saturday night, according to organizers hoping to send members of Elsie’s drama department to the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Sept. 4 event was Cuban themed and featured Cuban eats and dance lessons from Edna and Dick Lucero with live music by Orquesta Batacha. Guests included Marcos Suarez, Santa Rosa City Councilman Ernesto Olivares, artist Mario Uribe, Mary Jane Schneider and Brian O’Malley, according to organizers.
