International Walk and Roll to School Day is Oct. 9. Wednesday’s event is scheduled to encourage students to forgo cars and use bikes, scooters and their own two feet to get to school. Jefferson School mom Blythe Houg is the force behind that Cloverdale school’s push for more kids to walk and roll to school. Houg said the school doubled its number of participants in the annual event this year to 32 percent of the school’s 570 students. But the Jefferson community also hosts walk and roll to school events each month, to get families into the habit. Here are some photos.

Walk and Roll to School Day is fast approaching

International Walk and Roll to School Day is approaching. The big day for students (and their parents) to give riding or walking to school a try is Wednesday, Oct. 3.
