New faces in Mark West School District

The Mark West School District has hired a new principal at San Miguel Elementary School and a new director of curriculum and students services for the 1,400-student district. Nicole Lamare will take the helm at San Miguel for the 2013-14 school year. Kent Cromwell has moved on to become principal at Laguna High School in Sebastopol, according to Mark West Superintendent Ron Calloway. San Miguel’s Christie featured in education magazine

Some familiar faces appear in the March 2012 edition of California Educator, the magazine of the California Teachers Association. San Miguel Elementary School teacher Lisl Christie is featured in a story about transitional kindergarten (Mark West School District has run a supplemental program for Young Fives for years). Mark West music group hosting fundraiser

The Mark West Education Foundation Music Committee is hosting its second annual pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. March 10 in the multi-purpose room of San Miguel Elementary School. The event supports music programs throughout the district. Breakfast is a $5 per plate donation for pancakes, eggs and sausage, as well as coffee, juice and milk. UPDATE: The performance is Thursday, March 10. An earlier blog headline had the incorrect day. My apologies. ___ Music is on the minds of parents and students at Mark West district. Students will put on a winter concert Thursday night to raise money for the district’s music program. The show begins at 7 p.m. in the Mark West Elementary School, 4600 Lavell Road.
