Ridgway’s Marissa Freeman is student of the month

Marissa Freeman is Santa Rosa City Schools high school student of the month. Freeman, who expects to graduate a semester early, has been a student at Ridgway for the past three years. An avid and talented artist, Freeman has been a “driving force” behind many of the art pieces around the Ridgway campus, school officials said. Ridgway’s McCloud named SR school board student rep

The Santa Rosa School Board has selected Ridgway High School incoming senior Joseph McCloud to be the student representative on the board beginning July 1. The board has included a student representative on the board since 1978. Schools are represented on a regular rotation. Student representatives are given a preferential vote on all items except those discussed in closed session. The student rep vote does not affect the final outcome. Ridgway’s Bell is student of the month

Ridgway High School’s Cassidy Bell is Santa Rosa City Schools high school student of the month for May. Bell works in the school’s snack bar, helps prepare meals and participates in “Tea and Talk” every Friday to critique books. Bell also volunteered to be a camp counselor for a group of sixth grade girls at a week-long camp. She provided support, guidance and needed direction to the campers, according to school officials. Ceremony assignments are set to be formalized tonight for the string of Santa Rosa City Schools graduation festivities. SchoolsPlus ups its annual contribution to Santa Rosa schools

SchoolsPlus is at it again. The nonprofit that has been supporting athletics and arts in all Santa Rosa City Schools middle and high schools for more than two decades has upped their annual contribution to each campus, according to the group’s leaders. This year, all five comprehensive high schools will get $20,000 (up from $12,500 last year) and middle schools as well as Ridgway High will receive $10,000 (up from $6,250 last year). Ridgway students celebrate Dia de los Muertos

[imagebrowser id=7] Students at Ridgway High School celebrated Dia de los Muertos in downtown Santa Rosa this week under the tutelage of their art teacher, Heather Hagle. Participating students included Berenice Diosdado, Carley Goss, Malia Pearson, Nicole Hill, Cassie Bell, Pedro Anguino and Marissa Freeman. Anguino spoke at the explained to the audience the meaning behind the altar and his experience in participating in the event, according to Hagle. Check out the photos.

Ridgway High School art teacher Heather Hagle has unveiled an online gallery of her students’ work through www.artsonia.com. Ridgway High School’s Jacob Anderson is Santa Rosa City Schools high school student of the month for January. Anderson has earned a 3.7 grade point average since starting his studies at Ridgway and is lauded by staff there as a hard worker and responsible student who has taken on extra classes that keep him on campus until 5:30 p.m. every day. Lupita Aguirre is Santa Rosa City Schools student of the month for February. Aguirre has attended Ridgway High for the past two years, immersing herself in her studies as well as student live on campus. She is an active member of the new coed soccer team, served as student body secretary, works in the snack bar and helped produce a video about Ridgway High in her multi-media class. Ridgway High School’s Katie Bedser is Santa Rosa City Schools student of the month for March. Bedser is currently on track to graduate this spring with a 3.82 grade point average, according to school officials. Bedser is described as motivated, prepared, insightful, punctual and helpful.
