Piner dedicates admin building to Bob Zeni

Piner High School dedicated its administration building last Friday to long time administrator and Prospector booster Bob Zeni. Zeni was the first vice principal at the Fulton Road campus and served in that capacity from 1966 until 1989. He has been a Piner booster ever since, supporting several campus groups, including the Piner Athletic Hall of Fame. Piner’s observatory dome has arrived on campus

The observatory has arrived. The domed structure has landed on the Piner High School campus, signaling significant progress in the quest to open the school’s new science facility. The 4,000-square-foot facility will house the observatory, a planetarium and computer lab. It will be headquarters for the school’s award-winning Geospatial Technology Pathway but will be open to science, math and other classes that need high-tech presentation space. Piner nabs Golden Bell award, hosting GIS Day Wed

Piner High School has nabbed the prestigious Golden Bell Award for its Geospatial Technology Program. Piner will be honored by the California School Boards Association at their annual meeting Dec. 3 in San Diego. Barcelon’s award marks double win for Piner

Piner High’s Judy Barcelon was honored as the Sonoma County Career Technical Teacher of the Year for the last school year. Barcelon’s award marks a double win for Piner because senior Tiffany Tran was honored as the 2010-11 Outstanding Career Technical Education Student of the Year in the medical field from the Sonoma County Office of Education last spring. UPDATE: Through Region 1 and beyond. Piner’s Simone Spearman was named Educator of the Year for all of California at the annual California League of High Schools Confererence in Sacramento last weekend. “Way to go, Simone! Piner High School will hold an open house and information night to highlight its academic and campus programs Dec. 15.
